As reported in the local newspaper, Alameda Unified School District Board President Bill Schaff’s comments about the language of the Measure H parcel tax are comical. At a meeting of small Alameda business owners, some of who suggested the $9,500 cap on the parcel tax prevented Alameda’s largest landowners from objecting to the measure, Schaff was reported as saying a consultant team wrote the measure and and created the $9,500 cap, and that he “[is] not justifying it.”
So there you have it – the school board president who voted to put the parcel on the ballot is denying all responsibility or accountability for the text of the measure.
