NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A NEGATIVE DECLARATION
Notice is hereby given that the City of Alameda Planning and Building Department has completed an initial study and is proposing a Negative Declaration pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act for the project described below.
The initial study was undertaken for the purpose of determining whether the project may have a significant effect on the environment. On the basis of the initial study, planning staff has concluded that the project will not have a significant effect on the environment and, therefore, has proposed the Negative Declaration
Project Title: Proposed Density Bonus Ordinance
Project Description: Proposed Density Bonus ordinance. The Density Bonus ordinance will allow applicants to seek an increase in the residential density of a project if the project includes a specific percentage of qualifying housing units, such as affordable or senior housing units. Applicants may also be entitled to a density bonus if a project includes or provides for certain amenities such as a child care facility.
Copies of the Initial Study and Negative Declaration are available for public review at the City of Alameda Planning and Building Department, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue, Room 190, Alameda, California.
The Planning Board is scheduled to consider and make a recommendation to the Alameda City Council regarding the proposed Density Bonus ordinance and Negative Declaration at a public meeting on November 10, 2008 in the City Council Chambers at Alameda City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, CA. The City Council is scheduled to consider the proposed Density Bonus ordinance and Negative Declaration at a public meeting on January 6, 2009 in the City Council Chamber at Alameda City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, CA.
The City will receive comment on the Initial Study and proposed Negative Declaration for consideration by the Planning Board until Friday November 8, 2008. Any person wishing to comment on the Initial Study and proposed Negative Declaration may submit comments in writing to the City of Alameda at the following address:
