Update on SunCal, D.E. Shaw Problems

Here is the first edition of a new, irregular update on the trials, tribulations and litigations of SunCal Companies and their financial capital partner, D.E. Shaw.

D.E. Shaw appears to be a capital partner (i.e. they have the money), if not a named party, in this lawsuit filed by Wachovia against a Tampa Bay developer.

This news article from the Bakersfield Californian reports a slew of bankruptcy filings by SunCal affiliates who were financed by Lehman Brothers. Loans totaling $2.5 billion are at stake.
