Doug deHaan Elected as Vice-Mayor by Council

At tonight’s City Council meeting, newly re-elected Councilmember Doug deHaan was elected by Council to the position of Vice-Mayor.

The election continues the long-standing Alameda tradition of Council electing as Vice-Mayor the Councilmember who won the greatest number of votes in the most recent election. Sitting Vice-Mayor Lena Tam motioned the nomination and Councilmember Frank Matarrese seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

Mr. deHaan was sworn-in to the office of Councilmember tonight, as was Marie Gilmore. Also sworn-in to office this evening were City of Alameda treasurer and auditor Kevin Kennedy and Kevin Kearney.
