City of Alameda Negotiating Exit With Former City Manager Debra Kurita

Less than 20 days after former Alameda City Manager Debra Kurita announced her “resignation” – we received alerts that some morning indicating she was fired – Alameda City Council will meet in a special closed session meeting to discuss labor negotiations over the City Manager position.

The item is on the agenda for tomorrow night, during a Special City Council meeting, item 3-C, followed by what must be a discussion about a replacement, item 3-D :

3-C. CONFERENCE WITH LABOR NEGOTIATOR (54957.6)

Agency Negotiator: City Attorney

Name: City Manager

3-D. PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT

Title: City Manager

The “Conference with labor negotiator” very likely means that Kurita was pushed out, but allowed to resign to save face, as we reported, but Alameda taxpayers still have to pay some kind of settlement to get her to leave quietly. Mayor Beverly Johnson needs to come clean with Alameda residents about the truth behind Kurita’s exit.
