What’s up with Sun Cal petition folks using scare tactics to gather signatures. I had one tell me yesterday, ” If you don’t sign and help to get this on the ballot, the city council will approve the project, and Prop A is done.”
Is this correct, or are they liars, and does the media need to know?
They are, of course, liars. Presumably the signature gatherer was referring to “Measure A” – the low-density City charter amendment, which the initiative weakens by explicitly excluding Alameda Point. And there is no basis in fact for the statement “the city council will approve the project, and Prop A is done.” The project as proposed violates the City Chart, so City Council cannot approve it.
