City of Alameda Implements CodeRed Emergency Notification System

The Alameda Police Department’s web page includes an announcement that the City has implemented the CodeRed Emergency Notification System. The implementation is in part a response to the failure of the previous “reverse 911” system during the FISC Fire in March.

According to the web page: “This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action. [It] is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.”

Residents should provide their contact information directly to the CodeRed database at this link.
