Revitalize Alameda Point – Taxpayers Still Stuck With Bill After SunCal Project Failure

We reported previously that taxpayers at a SunCal project in San Juan Capistrano were stuck with sky-high property tax bills even though SunCal never delivered on promised “public benefits” like a new school, pool and community center. Guess what? Those taxpayers are still stuck.

The Capistrano Dispatch is reporting that residents of SunCal’s Pacifica San Juan project will have to continue paying $443,000 per year, most of it going to the Capistrano Unified School District, despite the fact that the new SunCal project sends only 10 children to public schools, and despite that less than 60 of 416 planned homes were built.

The Capistrano Unified School District board of trustees, no doubt suffering financial problems like our own Alameda Unified School District, denied the residents the tax relief that they requested.

It shows you what you can expect from Alameda City Hall and AUSD if SunCal gets their Alameda Point project built, with City Council and the AUSD board of trustees stuffed with developer friendly “elected” officials.
