Vallejo Study Shows Alameda Firefighters Pay Roughly On Par With Region

A salary study conducted on behalf of the City of Vallejo in 2008, and acquired by Action Alameda News, shows that Alameda firefighters monthly pay is pretty much on par with the regional average.

The study, conducted by Management Partners Incorporated, and completed in May 2008, shows that the average adjusted monthly salary range for Alameda firefighters, ranges from $5,278 to $7,677. For Vallejo, the range was $6,717 – $8,165 before their emergency action plan to cut costs. Under the Vallejo Emergency Action Plan (EAP), the range dropped to $6,315 – $7,675, or comparable to Alameda’s. Oakland firefighters earn $6,396 – $8,416 monthly. Alameda firefighters fell roughly in the middle between Oakland at the high end, and San Rafeael ($5,645 – $6,862) at the low end. (See graphic below.)

The survey was part of a January 27, 2009 report to Vallejo City Council and included survey’s of a range of police and firefighter positions across various Bay area cities.

According to the report, Alameda ranked fourth behind Napa, Vallejo and Oakland, respectively, when calculating maximum monthly employer contributions to fire union health plan costs

Additionally, Action Alameda News acquired separate reports on police salary surveys, which we have not been able to analyze yet, but hope to report on soon.
