Alameda Point Could be a Tourist Destination Too, Like The Presidio

Sources tell Action Alameda News that a small tourist industry is already developing at Alameda Point, thanks to businesses like the Rock Wall Wine Company and Hangar One Vodka. Rather than letting SunCal build 5,000 homes out there, the City of Alameda should be doing more work to figure out how to turn Alameda Point into a tourist destination like The Presido, shown in the video below.

The Presidio provides views of the Golden Gate Bridge… Alameda Point provides views of the Bay Bridge. The old campsite on the south shore of Alameda Point, near the West Oriskany Avenue entrance, could be restored to allow people to camp right on San Francisco Bay – in Alameda! The existing artisans and craftsmen at Alameda Point could be grouped into a market open to visitors to see experts at work. The film and TV production industry at Alameda Point could be allowed to thrive, and take advantage of the existing airplane hangars which provide production facilities like no other in the Bay area. We just have to demand it of City Hall.
