For the last two weeks, 5 Alameda stores have requested extended operating ours. The permit request was extended once again.
On Monday, Nov.23, 2009, Planning Board members unanimously voted to move their decision regarding use permits for store hours to December 14.
This is the second time the Board has postponed making a decision on whether or not they will grant the use permits.
Currently Panera Bread, Safeway, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Petco Pet Supply and Walgreens, have submitted use permit applications. These applications are requesting the Planning Board to grant the stores extended operating hours from 6:00am to 11:00pm
At the November 9th Planning Board meeting, seven Alameda store representatives went before the board to state their case. The Kohls department store and Trader Joe’ss, are the only stores that had their application for a use permit granted.
All other stores will have to hope the Planning Board will render a decision on Dec. 14.
