Jessica Robinson Considers Next Miss California USA Attempt

On November 22nd, Nicole Johnson, a 24 year-old from southern California was crowned Miss California USA 2010. Alameda resident Jessica Robinson, who competed in the pageant as Miss Alameda, is now considering her options, including a run for the crown again next year.

We profiled Jessica Robinson in early October when she announced her entry in the contest. “Many of the women in the top fifteen have entered the pageant before,” said Robinson. “Some have entered four times.”

Raising visibility for her contest entry through the Jamaican-American Association of Northern California, and Action Alameda News, Robinson secured a number of sponsors this year who provided clothes, a tour bus to drive supporters to the competition, and other services. “And you have to mention the Alameda Athletic Club, they did a lot for me” Robinson said. Robinson, a “triple threat” – she acts, sings and dances – is the daughter of a Jamaican reggae artist father and an American reggae music promoter mother.

Educated by her experience in her first beauty pageant, the tenacious Miss Alameda figures she’s now better positioned to run a longer fund-raising campaign, including raising funds to help transport more supporters to next-year’s event, should she choose to enter.
