Full Text of Cook, Dietrich Lawsuit Against AUSD Over Lesson 9

On February 18th, 2010, Alameda residents Kerry Cook and Serena Dietrich filed suit in Alameda County Superior Court, claiming that the Alameda Unified School District Board of Trustees violated the state’s open meeting laws in the course of their actions surrounding a new anti-bullying curriculum and the controversial “Lesson 9” plan at the December 8th, 2009, AUSD Board of Trustees meeting. Here is the full text of the lawsuit.

When we sent an e-mail inquiry through the website of Alameda Concerned Parents, we got a message back from Kerry Cook that her lawyer had advised her to not speak to the media about the case.

AUSD Board Trustee Trish Spencer, who was the lone ‘no’ vote on the board decision that sparked the lawsuit told Action Alameda News that “It would not have hurt anybody to delay the decision until the next meeting to give the public a chance to review the [Links to Literature] book.”
