Alameda Chamber of Commerce Opposes Measure E

In an advertising insert in the local print newspaper, the Alameda Chamber of Commerce announced that they do not support Measure E.

Chamber President Barbara Marchand writes “The Alameda Chamber of Commerce is fully supportive of quality education of all the children in Alameda…However, in light of the split role [sic] structure mandated by measure E which would create different and highly unequal tax rates for residential and commercial properties, the Chamber does not support this ballot measure.”

Action Alameda News has previously reported that Measure E employs a split-roll tax structure like Measure H, over which local business and properties owners sued the School District. The lawsuit has cost the School District well over $200,000 to date.
