In a letter to SunCal’s attorney, Louis Miller of Miller Barondess, LLP of Los Angeles, the City of Alameda has insisted that it may take as long as 45 days to satisfy a “voluminous” public records request that Mr. Miller submitted earlier this month, alongside letters threatening legal action against the City.

A five car crash closed the Webster Tube this evening during the height of rush hour. Alameda PD directed Action Alameda News to the Oakland Police Department, where a dispatcher explained that an ambulance had been requested. As of 5:40 p.m. there was no estimate when the tube would re-open.

I was among the many Alameda residents who attended the city council meeting last Tuesday, July 20, to urge the council to reject SunCal’s Optional Entitlement Application (OEA) and refuse to extend SunCal’s Exclusive Negotiation Agreement (ENA). The ENA was to expire on July 20th and the recent application included a plan that was substantially similar to what 85 percent of Alameda residents voted against last February. It called for 5,000 residential units, as did the defeated proposal, and now includes an even larger commercial component, with a proposed 4.6 million square feet of commercial buildings.

In a release earlier this week, Alameda Firefighters Local 689 of the International Association of Fire Fighters denied that Alameda City Councilmember Lena Tam (or any other Councilmember) leaked information to Local 689 regarding the issue of Ambulance Transport Services, or any other issue. Separately, yesterday, Local 689 issued an endorsement of Alameda City Councilmember Marie Gilmore in her race to become Mayor of Alameda this November.
