Yesterday, Miss Alameda, Jessica Robinson, gave an opening address at the Green Home Expo at Alameda’s Towne Centre shopping center. The expo was an event intended to promote awareness of “green” building and lifestyles, hosted by the Alameda Association of Realtors.
Local attorney John Cooke opened the ceremonies and introduced Robinson, who likened the Green Home Expo to an Earth Day Celebration, saying that it, “has brought all these companies, businesses, and people together who share the same vision of living and being sustainable without the expense of our home planet.”
Over 40 exhibitors were present to talk about products ranging from recycled materials as building supplies, to eco-friendly home improvement to electric cars and bikes. The City of Alameda and Alameda Municipal Power also sponsored the event.
