Should the City of Alameda try to control or regulate the slaughter of backyard farm animals, like pigs, chickens and rabbits? Action Alameda News would like to hear from you.

Upcoming Alameda Public Affairs Forum: Parks for the People of Alameda

On September 11th, the Alameda Public Affairs Forum will sponsor a panel discussion at the Alameda Free Library, called “Parks for the People of Alameda.”

The panel will include Alameda residents speaking about park proposals they have invested their own time in advancing:

  • Jean Sweeney – The Beltline Park
  • Dorothy Freeman – Estuary Park
  • Richard Bangert – Parks in the “Northwest Territory” of Alameda Point

Jean Sweeney is an Alameda City Council candidate and several years ago uncovered a 1924 contract that ultimately allowed for the City of Alameda to buy back, for under $1 million, from the Alameda Belt Line Railroad a 22 acre former rail yard that the Railroad was trying to sell for housing development.
