Call for Interviews

Should the City of Alameda try to control or regulate the slaughter of backyard farm animals, like pigs, chickens and rabbits? Action Alameda News would like to hear from you.

Thirteen Candidates Appear at AAPS Candidates Forum at Alameda Point

Roughly 75 people turned out last night at the Auctions by the Bay Theater at Alameda Point, to see thirteen Alameda City Council and Mayoral candidates, who are vying for three seats, participate in a forum sponsored by the Alameda Architectural Preservation Society.

The Society wanted to hear the candidates’ views on the preservation of historical architecture in Alameda, and particularly in the context of Alameda Point; the organization audiotaped the event, and the recording is expected to be made available to the public shortly.

City Council Candidate Rob Bonta arrived late, missing his slot in the line-up of opening remarks by the candidates, most of whom (Action Alameda News did not stay to hear all of the opening remarks), stressed their “preservation” record in Alameda.

The deep field of candidates made for a broad line-up across the Theater stage, posing challenges for photographers, as evidenced by these pictures below.

City Council Candidates

Gillitt, Tam, Johnson, Ashcraft, Sweeney, Mitchell, Jensen (Joe Woodard)

Mayoral Candidates

Gilmore, Daysog, Matarrese, Kahn, deHaan
