Alameda Sports Coalition Candidates Forum

A week from today, the Alameda Sports Coalition will hold a candidate forum night at the Bayport Recreation Center. In a prepared statement, the Coalition said that nearly all candidates for Mayor and City Council have accepted the group’s invitation to attend.

Coalition President Griff Neal has invited the public to attend, saying, “Parents are encouraged to attend and bring middle school and high school students as well. The format will include specific time for student questions of the candidates.” All questions will pertain to parks, sports fields and athletic programs for Alameda’s young people.

Alameda resident Norma Arnerich, who has worked to keep the Mif Albright 9-hole golf course in operation, also contributed a statement, saying, “Alameda Junior Golf is working hard, and we hope the City will partner with us to keep the Par 3 Golf course open for youth and seniors.”

The forum starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12th, and runs until 8:00 p.m., at the Bayport Recreation Center, 301 Jack London Avenue, near Ruby Bridges School.
