Should the City of Alameda try to control or regulate the slaughter of backyard farm animals, like pigs, chickens and rabbits? Action Alameda News would like to hear from you.

Alameda Power Out

Power was out across Alameda this afternoon, apparently due to the weather. The second outage lasted about an hour, with power returning at around 7:45 p.m. Action Alameda News asked Alameda Municipal Power for an update on how many residents were affected and for how long. Earlier, at around 12:30 p.m., in an un-related incident, this reporter observed a residential electrical service wire – the overhead wire running from the street to the house – in west-central Alameda sparking and smoking in the rain. Fire crews responded and turned off the power to prevent a fire, and the tenants and property owners were notified.
