Emma Hood Swim Center to Re-open by Noon Today

According to a statement released by the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) late yesterday, the Emma Hood Swim Center should be open again by noon today.

Last Wednesday, AUSD staff, and AUSD’s contractor, Aquatic Design Group, met with the Alameda County Health Department to figure out the most expedient way to get the pools at Alameda High School and Encinal High open again. The County apparently agreed to treat the pools at Emma Hood, which are gravitational flow pools, as a single body of water so that the existing filtration system could be certified for re-opening in a matter of days. The Encinal pools have a more complex filtration system and a different pump drainage system that will require more engineering work. No word yet on when the Encinal pools will re-open.
