Yorkie “Deuce” Reunited With Best Friend

Alameda police announced today that a phone tip has lead to the recovery a dog named “Deuce” that was dognapped on October 30th.

According to police a 24 year-old Stockton resident tipped them off after realizing a dog the tipster had bought for $20.00 from a man and woman on a Stockton street matched Deuce’s description.

Alameda detectives, working with the Stockton Animal Control services, scanned a microchip embedded in the dog to verify the dogs identity. Deuce was reunited with Helen Bignone on the evening of November 10th.

One suspect, a 19 year-old Oakland resident has been arrested in connection to the robbery of Ms. Bignone of her purse and the dog, which took place on an Alameda street corner. A second person, possibly an accomplice is still at large; he is also wanted for a parole violation un-connected to the dognapping. Ms. Bignone’s purse was also recovered and returned to her.

Addendum: Lieutenant Sean Lynch told Action Alameda News that the tipster is a female Stockton resident that wishes to remain anonymous, and that Alameda PD is working to facilitate the payment of the reward. The victim’s purse was previously recovered but no cash or credit cards were recovered.
