Karousel Boutique Set to Open Next Week on Webster Street

The Karousel Boutique and Creativity Center, billed by the City of Alameda as a retail “incubator,” is set to hold a grand opening next week on Tuesday, November 30th, at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited.

The store is a joint effort of the City of Alameda and the Women’s Initiative, a non-profit Bay Area organization that provides training, funding and support to low-income woman entrepreneurs. Ten percent of sales from the Boutique on Webster Street will be donated back to the Women’s Initiative.

In a statement, Susan Grant, a Women’s Initiative graduate and the chief proponent of the Boutique, said, “The Boutique will have many positive impacts, including helping women entrepreneurs and improving the retail climate of Webster Street. We are delighted to be here.”

The store, at 1532 Webster Street, will be open for the holiday shopping season, and will feature clothing, jewelry and other items produced by graduates of the Women’s Initiative’s classes and programs.
