Alameda Police Recover Portion of Stolen Human Remains

The Alameda Police Department announced yesterday that they had recovered a portion of the human remains previously stolen from Clergy at the Christ Episcopal Church on March 5th.

According to police, on Saturday, while the family of the deceased made funeral service arrangements at the church, persons unknown stole from the facility two boxes in a backpack that contained the cremated remains.

Yesterday morning, an Oakland man contacted the church to report that he had found one of the boxes of the remains in the vicinity of the 400 block of 29th avenue in Oakland, the previous evening. Alameda police verified the contents of the box and notified the family to make arrangement to return the remains to them.
