Subject: Attempted Kidnapping

Date: March 16, 2011 09:00 P.M.

On March 15, 2011, at 2:20 P.M., Staff at Washington Elementary School, at 825 Taylor Avenue, reported to the Alameda Police that a student had told a teacher earlier that morning that she was touched inappropriately by a man on the way to school. The 10-year-old female victim claimed the attack occurred off-campus, before school was in session, near the intersection of Eighth Street and Central Avenue. The victim said she was able to get away from the suspect with the help of an unidentified woman. The suspect then ran away.

The victim described the suspect as an Hispanic male, 5’10” to 6’0” tall, weighing between 180 and 230 pounds. She said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black T-shirt, and blue jeans.

The Alameda Police immediately launched an investigation into the incident, which is still underway.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who can help in identifying the woman who assisted the victim, is asked to contact the Alameda Police Department.
