City to Kick-off Alameda Point Workshop Series, Including Webinar on Financing Redevelopment

The City of Alameda is starting a fresh round of workshops to educate the public about Alameda Point redevelopment, including a May 18th Internet webinar covering the “financial basics” of redeveloping Alameda Point.

According to a statement released by the City, “This web based workshop is designed to inform and educate the community about the costs associated with redeveloping Alameda Point and how the financial proforma works… [and] will introduce the community to the major infrastructure improvement costs (streets, sewer, drainage, flood control, transportation, etc.) required to redevelop Alameda Point in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and provide a dedicated funding source to meet on-going maintenance service standards.”

The workshop will be conducted from City Council chambers at City Hall, and the public may either join in person there, or online via computer. Participants can register online at: The webinar starts at 6:30 p.m on May 18th.

Two subsequent workshops will cover transportation planning and sustainability planning for Alameda Point, in late May and mid-June, respectively:

May 26, 2011 (6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) – Transportation Planning for Alameda Point — Mastick Senior Center from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

June 14, 2011 (6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) – Sustainability Planning for Alameda Point – Albert H. DeWitt O Club from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
