Mayor Gilmore Appoints Mike Henneberry, David Burton, to Planning Board

At Tuesday’s Alameda City Council meeting, Mayor Marie Gilmore nominated Mike Henneberry and David Burton to the two vacant positions on the Planning Board.

David Burton is a founding member of CASA (Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda). According to its mission statement on its Facebook page, “CASA is a community-wide coalition that will raise awareness, mobilize community action, and facilitate implementation of programs to achieve the goal of Alameda’s Local Action Plan for Climate Protection (to reduce Alameda’s carbon emissions to 25% below 2005 levels by the year 2020) and to increase community sustainability and well-being.”

According to the website for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 5, Mike Henneberry is a communications director for the local. At the July 20th meeting last year where Alameda City Council effectively ousted SunCal from the Alameda Point redevelopment project, Henneberry spoke in favor of retaining SunCal as the master developer.
