John Russo Replaced by Barbara Parker in Oakland

The City of Oakland announced today that outgoing City Attorney John Russo has appointed Oakland Chief Assistant City Attorney Barbara Parker as the City of Oakland’s Acting City Attorney, effective 11:30 a.m. this morning. Russo begins work in Alameda on Monday as City Manager, coming in as the City is embroiled in a crisis over the Memorial Day death of Raymond Zack at Crown Beach.

In a letter dated today, Russo noted that he appointed Ms. Parker as Acting City Attorney as Oakland City Council had not yet made an appointment to the office before he left, despite having advised the Oakland Council of his impending move to Alameda roughly six weeks ago.
