Earlier this year, Action Alameda News reported that the City of Alameda was considering implementing mandatory recycling for commercial and multi-family buildings. Next month, the City is scheduling meetings with stakeholders. An earthquake shook Alameda at about 8:08 p.m. tonight. The initial reports from the United States Geological Service website indicate it was centered about 3 miles north-northeast of San Leandro. Early USGS reports placed it as a magnitude 3.5 quake. The City of Alameda announced late last week that the Office of Economic Adjustment under the Department of Defense has awarded the City of Alameda $225,000 to prepare a detailed economic development strategy for Alameda Point. Also, on October 5th, Alameda City Council, sitting as the Alameda Reuse and Redevelopment Authority (ARRA) will vote on a term sheet between the U.S. Navy and the City to transfer Alameda Point to ARRA at no cost. An Alameda resident is questioning if Interim Alameda Fire Department Chief Michael D’Orazi has the proper credentials to serve in the role. She’s been pulling State of California certification documents to bolster her case. The San Francisco Bay Ferry will run expanded Alameda/Oakland ferry service during Fleet Week weekend, October 8th and 9th. This year, the USS Carl Vinson, formerly home-berthed at Naval Air Station Alameda, is slated to be in the parade of ships.
