Staffers at the Alameda County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office have advised Action Alameda News that the annual mailing of property tax bills has begun.
Readers had contacted Action Alameda News to inquire about the mailing.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office stated that the mailing of the tax bills started on October 7th; the 1st installment is due by November 1. The last day to pay the first installment without penalty is December 12.
Property owners can look-up, view and pay property taxes online at www.acgov.org. Owners that haven’t received their bill by the second week of November should contact the Tax Collector’s office at 510-272-6800.
Alameda residents will see the new $12 million per-year Alameda Unified School District parcel tax for the first time on this bill, noted as “SCHOOL MEASURE A”.
Lots of errors can be made with this kind of tax. Your square footage could be wrong, AUSD could have lost your application for senior exemption, etc., etc. Given the labor, software?, to levy this tax, I’m wondering how much does it cost the AUSD to do so…
Use the County’s Property Characteristic Change form if the square footage for your parcel isn’t accurate as used to calculate your Measure A tax: http://www.alameda.k12.ca.us/images/stories/pdfs/master_plan/prop_char_change_form.pdf (and if you get this correction, then you use the next form along with evidence of the correction, to send to AUSD.)
AUSD Form to disagree with Measure A tax assessment not related to square footage: http://www.alameda.k12.ca.us/images/stories/pdfs/master_plan/parcel_tax_correction_application_2011_12.pdf
AUSD Measure A Senior Exemption form is here (was due June 30, 2011 for the 11-12 tax year–to be filed if you turn 65 on or before 6/30—they don’t have a new form up for the 12-13 year yet; I wonder if you send it in now if you’d get a refund later in the tax year?): http://www.alameda.k12.ca.us/images/stories/pdfs/master_plan/msr_a_official_senior_exemption_2011_12.pdf
AArrgh!!I’m just getting over the shock of my property tax going up by FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS! Thanks for nothing, you Measure Aholes who voted this in. You definitely DON’T care about your neighbors. All property owners who voted this in should have to pay any future remaining years’ taxes IMMEDIATELY upon moving out of town.
No wonder our suicide rate is higher than other Calif cities!
Although paying extra, button line AUSD is not moving every student to success. Waste tax dollars
Let’s ask Kirsten Vital, AUSD superintendent to chip in for our taxes. She got a raise recently.
Don’t forget the additional sewer taxes…
