Mid-Year Budget Cuts Minor for AUSD

At tomorrow’s Board of Trustees meeting, the Alameda Unified School District will get an update on mid-year state “trigger” budget reductions, which will total roughly $300,000 out of an $80 million to $100 million annual budget.

The district will face a reduction of $115,001 in K-12 Revenue Limit funds from the state, and a reduction of $126,161 in transportation funds. Child development programs will be cut $60,000. The reductions are effective January 1, 2012, except for the revenue limit reductions, which will take effect February 1, 2012 or later.

The school district is also continuing contract negotiations with teachers and other employees.

In March of last year, the district passed a parcel tax, which will raise roughly $12 million per year for seven years.
