Tomorrow night, Alameda City Council will receive a follow-up report on the fire and police departments’ response to recommendations in response to the death of Raymond Zack at Crown Beach last May.
According to the report, one hundred sworn and non-sworn Alameda Police Department employees have been trained in crisis intervention, and ninety-three Alameda Fire Department employees have been trained in land based water rescue operations.
The report is online here.
Oh, come on. New Jet-Skis for the APD & a FEMA grant? Talk about Grandstanding[to play or act so as to impress onlookers]! How are the results of this report not just another way to spend tax money & not particularly on anything that will prevent future suicides? Where is the spending to improve relationships between citizens & the local police?
It would have been nice if Raymond Zack’s death could have meant something more than buying more new toys for public safety.
