Estuary Crossing Shuttle Funded for Another Year

The City of Alameda Public Works Department has announced that the San Francisco Bay Area Air Quality Management District has granted a second year of funding for the Estuary Crossing Shuttle.

The shuttle runs between West Alameda and downtown Oakland, and is designed to help pedestrians and bicyclists overcome the challenge of getting through the Posey Tube.

Public Works Director Matt Naclerio said that with the grant, the shuttle is funded through mid-August of next year. The shuttle is running at about half capacity, Naclerio said, and his department continues to look for more funding to continue service until 2016.

The shuttle reports, on average, 150 daily boardings, with 20 percent of those bicyclists.
