Alameda Resident’s Equality Bill Passes Assembly Health Committee

A bill intended to equalize access to fertility medical care for LGBT people, conceived by an Alameda resident, has cleared the California Assembly Health Committee.

Bill AB2356, driven by Alameda family nurse practitioner Leland Traiman, passed committee yesterday on a 13 to 5 vote and moves on to the State Assembly. The bill has the support of the California Medical Association.

Mr. Traiman said, “Alice Kessler, for Equality California, and Cathy Sakimura, of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, worked hard to make this possible. We still have a long way to go but we are on our way.”
