Expect Airport Noise This Weekend

The City of Alameda is warning residents that a temporary runway closure this weekend at Oakland Airport is likely to generate noise for Alameda residents, as flight activity shifts to the north field.

The 10,000 foot long runway 11/29 will be closed temporarily for a taxiway reconstruction project from 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6th to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7th.

The shorter north field runways, 9/27 left and right will be used during that time.

According to information released by the airport, there are normally six departures between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings, and 45 landings scheduled between 8:00 p.m. on Sunday to 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning; 39 of those landings are scheduled for before 11:00 p.m.

Complaints about aircraft noise can be reported to Oakland Airport’s noise hotline at (510) 563-6463 or online.
