Three Employee Groups Accept Four-year Contracts with City of Alameda

The City of Alameda announced yesterday that the Alameda City Employees Association (ACEA), the Alameda Management & Confidential Employees (MCEA), and the Alameda Police Officers Association (PANS) Non-Sworn Unit have voted to accept new four-year contracts.

The ACEA includes clerical, maintenance, building, and code enforcement staff and MCEA includes mid-managers and executive assistants. The PANS bargaining unit includes police dispatch, jailers, property and evidence technicians, and crime scene technicians.

The city struck new contracts with the firefighter, fire manager and police officer unions last year.

The three new contracts run from January 1, 2012 through December 26, 2015. All groups will receive pay increases in years 3 and 4 from between 1.5% and 5%. The amount depends on increases in City revenues.

Employee Calpers contributions will rise from 7% of salary to 8.868% of salary, but this won’t go into effect until January 1, 2013, subject to state approval. Employees will also begin sharing the costs of health care premium increases.

City Council will vote to ratify the three new contracts on June 19th.
