Pay Parking Citations Direct with Alameda Police

The Alameda Police Department has moved customer service for parking citations back in-house, after persistent complaints about poor customer service.

Alameda Police announced the move this morning. The department had outsourced processing for parking citations at the end of 2010 to save roughly $80,000 annually in costs. Moving customer service back to Alameda will increase costs by roughly $32,000 per year.

The Alameda Police Department is now handling all parking citation questions by phone or in-person, and is coordinating the review and appeal process when someone challenges a citation. The department accepts checks, money orders, cash or credit cards for payments. (But no cash in the after-hours payment drop box in the lobby of the police department building at 1555 Oak Street.)
