Alameda Municipal Power to Set Next Year’s Budget at Monday Meeting

The Public Utilities Board is set to review and approve the fiscal year 2012 through 2013 budget for Alameda Municipal Power at Monday’s meeting. The city-owned utility expects to transfer $2.8 million to the City of Alameda general fund next year.

The utility’s $60 million budget includes $31 million in expenditures for purchased power, and just over $15 million in personnel and contractual services expenditures. Roughly $55 million of revenue will come from electricity sales and $4.2 million is expected from the sale of renewable energy credits.

Alameda Municipal Power is budgeting 90 full-time equivalent employees plus two temporary employees for the upcoming year, down from a high of 142 in 2007, when the utility operated an internet access and cable television service.

Action Alameda News was unable to find the general fund transfer resolution, referenced as “Exhibit A” in the meeting packet, however, and has asked the utility for clarification.
