National Night Out is Next Tuesday, August 7th

Next Tuesday is National Night Out, an annual event, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, designed to build neighborhood relationships, strengthen community-police relationships, and prevent crime.

On a National Night Out, residents are asked to spend the evening outside with neighbors, socializing with each other with a BBQ or potluck dinner. The purpose is to get neighbors to know one another, and be a visible presence on the street.

Neighborhoods that plan and register an event with the Alameda Police Department will receive a courtesy visit from department representatives. Registration is free.

The community of Woodstock Homes in west Alameda has announced its block party, starting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at 1711 Second Street. The community claims over 500 residents.

This year marks the 29th occurrence of the National Night Out event. Contact the Alameda Police Department at 510-337-8305 to register your event.

Residents are reminded to lock their doors and take their keys with them when attending events.
