Alameda Police to Host Part of Urban Shield 2012

The Alameda Police Department will host part of the 2012 Urban Shield event.

The Alameda Police Department will host part of the Urban Shield 2012 event this weekend, which involves 32 different police SWAT teams training at two different Alameda locations.

According to the Urban Shield website, the exercise is designed to assess and validate the speed, effectiveness and efficiency of agencies, polices, plans, procedures and protocols to respond to major incidents.

This year, training locations in the City of Alameda include the Navy Operational Support Center at 2144 Clement Avenue and the Alameda Marina located at 1815 Clement Avenue.

Training begins at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 and ends at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012.
