City of Alameda to Launch Smokefree Public Awareness Campaign

The City of Alameda is launching a smokefree public awareness campaign this Saturday. Volunteers will pass out no-smoking information to Park Street shoppers and merchants.

Last year, the City of Alameda passed a smoking ordinance which prohibits smoking on public rights-of-way and other areas accessed by the public. In a media release, the City says it’s now time to promote change in public attitudes.

On Saturday, volunteers will place no-smoking stickers in pre-approved public areas, and offer free no-smoking window signs to merchants. They will also pass out information on the smoking ordinance and how to find help to quit smoking.
