Alameda County Median Home Price Up

Yahoo! Homes reports 164 foreclosures in Alameda.

Home sale volume and the median home price in Alameda County was up in October, according to the latest Bay Area statistics from Data Quick.

Data Quick reports that sales volume in Alameda County in October was 1,618 homes, up 23.7 percent from October last year. The median home price in Alameda County was also up, to $384,000 in October from $340,000 in the same month last year, a 12.9 percent rise.

Across the Bay area, foreclosures resales accounted for 12 percent of resales in October, down from 14.1 percent in September and down from 25.3 percent in October of last year. Last month’s figure was the lowest since November, 2007, when foreclosure resales were 10.1 percent of home sales.

San Francisco’s Wells Fargo was the busiest lender in the Bay area last month, providing loans for 14.6 percent of the market.

This week, the bank announced an event to be held at the Oakland Convention Center on December 7th and 8th, launching its down payment assistance program for home buyers in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

The program is for qualified potential home buyers interested in purchasing and living in a home in the cities of Oakland, Fremont, Hayward, Concord, Antioch, Pittsburg, Richmond, Brentwood and Bay Point.
