At next Tuesday’s Alameda Unified School District board meeting, the newly elected school board members will be sworn-in.

Incumbents Trish Spencer (shown in photo) and Niel Tam won re-election, with Spencer the vote-leader, garnering more than 21 percent of the vote. Spencer was part of a slate of three candidates backed by the Alameda Education Association, the local teacher’s union, along with newly elected Barbara Kahn, (also shown in photo) who came in second with almost 17 percent of the vote.

Board member Ron Mooney, who ran for re-election but came in sixth, behind Spencer, Kahn and Tam, as well as newcomers Jon Murphy and Michael Robles-Wong, will be vacating his seat.
