Four Alameda Companies Nominated for East Bay Innovation Awards

DOER Marine of Alameda has been nominated for an East Bay Innovation Award.

Four of the 16 finalist nominees for the East Bay Economic Development Alliance’s (East Bay EDA) East Bay Innovation Awards are companies from Alameda. The new award series is intended to recognize “up-and-coming innovators who will have opportunities to be leaders in the East Bay in future years,” according to the Alliance’s website.

The companies are DOER Marine, Penumbra, Inc., Perforce Software, and St. George Spirits. Bank of America and Chevron are two leading sponsors of the award program.

A panel of industry insiders reviewed nominations in a variety of categories including Clean Tech, Advanced Manufacturing, Food, Information/Communication Technology, and others.

DOER Marine, on Clement Avenue, is one company taking advantage of Alameda’s unique island setting. The company engineers and builds subsea robotics and submersible systems.

“We are pleased to be in Alameda. Our waterfront location in the heart of the Bay Area allows collaboration with a broad range of innovative employees, businesses, technologies, as well as our end users. It has been the perfect home for our subsea robotics and submersible business,” said Liz Taylor, President, DOER.

A gala event at the Fox Theater in Oakland on January 31, 2013, will recognize the finalists, and East Bay EDA will announce award winners.

The East Bay EDA is a public/private partnership that boosts businesses in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Membership starts at $750 per year.
