Health Care District Releases Board Applicant Packet

The Alameda Health Care District, which oversees Alameda Hospital, has released to Action Alameda News the packet for applicants vying to fill the seat on the board vacated by Stewart Chen after his election to Alameda City Council.

As of January 4th, Lynn Bratchett, Shubha Fanse, Terrie Kurrasch and Tracy Lynn Jensen have applied. All four live in Alameda, and all for signed a statement indicating that they don not have any conflict of interest by way of a financial interest in Alameda Hospital as an employee, contractor or supplier or through a professional relationship.

Shubha Fanse would appear to have an inside track on the position, by way of a reference Stewart Chen. Fanse currently sits on the Alameda Hospital Community Relations Board. However, his background is in Information Technology; he has a Masters degree in Chemistry.

The Health Care District Board is to receive an update on the replacement search at tonight’s meeting.

Background and reference checks are ongoing, and there is an applicant conference on January 23rd, followed by a special district board meeting on January 28th where the board will interview and evaluate each candidate at an open session meeting.

The board has a deadline to appoint the replacement member by February 16th, 2013.
