Alameda Paratransit Shuttle is Open to the Public

By Erica Madison

Soon Alameda’s Paratransit Shuttle service will be free to use for all Alameda residents.

The paratransit program started in 2009 and is funded through Measure D. The shuttle was originally designed to provide transportation for seniors 55 and older. The shuttle travels from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm from Tuesday to Thursday. It travels between Alameda Point, downtown Alameda, Bay Farm Island, the Mastick Senior Center, Shoreline drive and Bridgeside Center

With only five hundred riders a month, the shuttle has room to spare and will be opening its services to the public for a one year trial basis. The shuttle will still continue to keep its focus on providing transportation to senior citizens. In addition the shuttle will be adding more stops to its routes; starting with a new stop at The Kate Creedon Center for Advanced Wound Care.
