The City of Alameda Public Works Department says that mature trees are trimmed every five years, and trees less than five years old are pruned more frequently to establish proper structure.
The work this week will be focused structurally pruning young trees in the following areas:
- Park Street from Lincoln Avenue to San Jose Avenue
- Santa Clara Avenue from Oak Street to Park Avenue
- Central Avenue from Oak Street to Park Avenue
Some parking spaces will be close to reserve space for the contractor’s vehicles.
The work will generally proceed south towards Shoreline Drive through the month of March.

Is this going to be a tree trimming project or is it going to be another tree BUTCHERING project? Like has happened every time in the past!!!
What I like to know, who is responsible for BUTCHERING the trees in front of the Willow’s on Shoreline. What a horrible job, how can the City permit this.
