Maya Lin School is holding a fundraiser on May 11th, its first annual Havana Night.

All proceeds from the event benefit Maya Lin School, a public school, part of the Alameda Unified School District.

The event is adult-only and includes free salsa lessons, dancing, appetizers, a raffle and a silent auction. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

When: Saturday, May 11
Time: 7:00pm – 10:30pm
Where: Eagles Hall, 2305 Alameda Ave., Alameda, CA (upstairs)

    Also May 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. There is Live Music and Dancing at ACLC for all ages featuring the Bob Claire Orchestra

    The event, called Rock Out For The Move, will be held at ACLC’s current location at 210 Central #603 in Alameda.

    Rock Out For The Move, open to all ages in the community, will include live music, dancing, games for children and food. The Bob Claire Orchestra, performing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., is headlining the event. The Bob Claire Orchestra won the 2012 Alameda Battle of the Bands and is known for their danceable performances of soul, Motown, rhythm & blues and rock music. ACLC’s Rockshop, performing from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., will open the event.

    Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students 18 years of age and under. A raffle of prizes donated by local businesses and community members will also be held, raffle tickets are $1 each. Tickets are available in advance and at the door. All proceeds are donated to the ACLC.

    Individuals and businesses in the community are encouraged to get involved and support the event either by attending, volunteering or donating prizes for the raffle. Volunteers and employees from businesses donating a prize for the raffle get in free.

    The ACLC Fundraising Club is a learner led organization dedicated to raising money for the school through programs such as this event and movie nights for learners on campus.

    The ACLC is a combined Middle School and High School program encompassing Grades 6-12 is consistently ranked among Alameda’s best middle schools and high schools, offering a creative, rigorous college prep program. The ACLC is an educational model that empowers all learners to take ownership of their educational experience, to celebrate their diverse community, and to actively participate as members in a democratic society.
