Alameda’s Rent Review Advisory Council meets tonight. Among the items under consideration is a new case regarding four units at 2045 Clinton Avenue, a four-story apartment block.

Rents are increasing in the Bay area along with home prices.

In February, proposed rent increases at a Benton Avenue property prompted a letter to the landlord from the Mayor and calls from the public for the imposition of rent control in Alameda.

Owner’s of rental property. Purchase these properties in order to make a profit on their investment. The rental fee is usually what the market will bear. Profit is not a crime. If the Mayor wants to purchase rental property and make a profit of $1.00 a month, then that is her business. I choose to make as much profit as I can. If the renter’s don’t like the profit that I am making then they should go and rent the Mayor’s property! Nobody is breaking the renters arm to rent my property. City hall (Mayor) needs to keep their nose out of my business. I don’t care what the Mayor rent’s her property (if she has any) for, because that is her business. Got it? The last time that I checked I found that our country is a Democratic country, not a Socialist country nor a Communistic country. I hope that we can keep it that way. You want rent control? Then go live in Berkeley or San Francisco!!!!!!!!!!!!
