The Alameda Firefighters Association Political Action Committee raised $16,440.06 in the first six months of 2013, all of it reportedly from local firefighter union members.

In the same time period, the committee gave $5,000 to a committee for Alameda Councilmember Lena Tam, $3,000 to a committee for former councilmember Rob Bonta, and $500 to a commiteee for Abel Guileen, who challenged Bonta last year in a run for the 18th Assembly District seat.

The committee also gave $2,500 to a San Mateo group opposing a recall of Mike Alifano, Douglas Mackintosh and Gary Riddell of the Coastside Fire Protection District Board of Directors.

According to the San Mateo Times, the three had been pushing to oust Cal Fire from the district, so that the San Mateo County Firefighters Local 2400 could represent the district instead.

The recall election succeeded in April.

In total the Alameda firefighters committee spent $11,000 in the first half of the year, and ended the filing period with just under $35,000 in the bank.

Committee finance filings are available through the City of Alameda clerk’s office.
